How to Blanch Spinach

  • Use a dry skillet. No oil, butter, water, etc.
  • Preheat the skillet on medium heat
  • When the skillet is warm, add your spinach
  • Toss the spinach frequently with tongs to prevent it from burning
  • The spinach will shrink considerably
  • You will know that the spinach is done when it has turned a very dark green colour and has shrunk to approximately a 5th of it’s original size.
