30 Days of Vegetables – Day 18

A typical wrap would usually include some form of meat and loads of shredded cheese. For most people, a wrap without cheese would be pretty close to unthinkable. And, believe it or not, I was one of these people. That was, until I realized that the key ingredient to a great tasting wrap, is actually the sauce!

Now, this realization could be problematic for some of us, because most sauces are accompanied by a high fat content, and refined sugar. The number of calories you can add to your wrap, just buy adding sauce, is crazy!

So, I decided to use the ranch dip that I made for Super Bowl Sunday, and a little bit of hot sauce, to flavour my wrap. This dip is low in calories, fat and sugar, but high in protein. There is no need to feel guilty when you drown your veggies in this dip!

I would love to tell you that I made this tortilla from scratch, that it is gluten-free, and that it doesn’t contain any preservatives, but it wouldn’t be true. One day I will get around to making my own tortillas, but for today I am okay with eating this store bought version. Everything in moderation…

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tortilla of your choice
  • 3 tbs Ranch Dip – Click here for the recipe
  • 1/4 cucumber – sliced or diced*
  • 1/2 tomato-sliced or diced*

Optional:

  • Hot sauce – to taste
  • 1.5 tsp hemp hearts
  • 1/4 bell pepper – sliced or diced*
  • lettuce – as much as you can fit
  • spinach – as much as you can fit

* Note: the way in which you choose to cut your vegetables is up to your personal preference, but the smaller you cut them, the more you will be able to fit in, and the easier it will be to wrap.

Directions:

  • Spread the desired amount of sauce down the middle of your tortilla.
  • Pile your sliced vegetables down the center of the tortilla on top of the sauce. Leave about 2 inches of space at the bottom of the wrap.
  • Fold the bottom of the wrap up towards the center.
  • Fold both sides of the wrap in, one at a time, and it’s ready to eat!

Enjoy!
