 How to stretch your Quads:

  • Stand on one leg. You may wish to hold on to a wall or stationary object to maintain your balance.
  • Hold onto the opposite foot or ankle, and pull the heel towards the glutes.
  • Pull the knee back as you push the hip forward.
  • Contract the abdominals, pull your bellybutton into your spine, to create a slight pelvic tilt. This will elongate your spine, preventing pinching and discomfort in your lower back.
  • Make sure to keep your shoulders relaxed, and your gaze forward.
  • If your knee begins to float out to the side, contract the inner thigh to bring the knee back to the midline, and increase the stretch.
  • Hold the stretch for 30 seconds, then repeat with the other leg.

What you should feel when stretching your Quads:

  • When stretching the quadriceps, you should feel the stretch from the front of the hip, down to the knee.
